Canadian Swimming Congress coming to Toronto

News –

After a successful debut in 2014, the Canadian Swimming Congress will return in 2016, this time in Toronto.

The 2016 Canadian Swimming Congress will take place Sept. 28-Oct. 2 at the Marriott Toronto Airport hotel. The event combines the Swimming Canada Annual General Meeting and the Canadian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association/Team Aquatic Supplies National Coaches Conference.

“This event was such a great success in 2014 in Calgary,” said CSCTA Executive Director Chris Hindmarch-Watson. “We look forward to working with Swimming Canada to grow the Congress and the National Coaches Conference in 2016, we feel that the location selected will help us to reach our goals.”

More information on speakers and schedules will be made available in the coming months. The 2014 edition brought together 200 coaches, and dozens of executives, coaches, officials and leaders. Olympic women’s hockey coach Melody Davidson, double Olympic gold medallist and sports commentator Catriona LeMay Doan, and international climber and inspirational speaker Warren Macdonald were among the keynote speakers.

“In 2014 we did something that had never been done before and the effects were incredibly positive,” said Swimming Canada CEO Ahmed El-Awadi. “Once again we have the opportunity to bring nearly all of the key people in Canadian swimming together to share feedback, wisdom and ideas. We look forward to working with the CSCTA to continue moving our great sport forward together.”

The CSCTA/TAS National Coaches Conference was last held in Toronto in 2012.
