High Performance National Centres and Academies
Swimming Canada’a High Performance Strategy includes the establishment of two National Swimming Centres and three Swiming Academies / Regional Centres. The objective of these High Performance entities is to provide an environment aimed at developing identified swimmers to their potenial. Each Centre / Academy will be serviced by expert coaching tasked solely with the high performance needs of the resident swimmers. The ultimate goal is to develop a training and competition environment where Canadian swimmers can win at the highest levels. Athletes attending the National Training Centre also benefit from a variety of support services such as sport science, medical support and easy access to one of the country’s top Academic institution. Also University based athletes have the advantage to compete within the Canadian Intra-University Sports (CIS) circuit. Swimmer entry into the National Centres is through an application process.
The National Training Centres and the Academies / Regional Centres offer outreach and regional vistation oportunities – to find out more contact the head coach in the area. A second role of the Centres and Academies is to become a catalist to regional high performance development. Visiting opportunities can be arranged through the Head Coach of each HP entities.
